The potential of health screening for vitamin D – NEW research
Vitamin D is an unusual vitamin – as “Sun exposure” to the skin is considered to be the natural and most effective source. It is has several important functions. For example, it helps regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body.
New research into health screening, genetics and vitamin D has identified vitamin D dependent genes in tissues which could help identify individuals who might benefit from long-term vitamin D supplementation.
This also relates to studies of alterations linked to levels of interleukin 6, an inflammation marker, which were noted to be reduced as serum vitamin D levels increased.
The research was conducted by the University of Eastern Finland
Bluecrest Health Screening can provide health screening tests for Vitamin D levels for individuals looking to find out more. Bluecrest health screenings also review calcium and phosphate levels.
